Storytelling session theme: LESSONS

Tonight’s storytelling session will be on the theme of school/lessons.

Stories are essential to learning. We pass down knowledge through the generations by telling anecdotes, cautionary tales, and bedtime stories.

If you’re a lover of listening to or sharing stories please join us this Wednesday in the Woolpack at 7.00 for 7.30pm. All are welcome!

STORYTELLING SESSION

Come along to the Woolpack in Tillicoultry this Wednesday, 2nd August from 7.30pm when we will be sharing stories on the subject of education, learning, lessons and such like.

You might even share your own stories with us!

Hillfoots Tales Storytelling Session: FOOD

On Wednesday we enjoyed an evening of storytelling based on the theme of ‘Food’. Very appropriate for the meeting’s restaurant setting!

We had a storytelling smorgasbord. Starting with the whimsical ‘The Blairlogie Baker’ and the twisted tale of ‘A Boy and A Broonie’. Followed by the heartfelt ‘As Meat Loves Salt’ and the thought-provoking ‘Mallie and the Troll’. We finished with a sing-song redo of a classic fairytale with ‘Goldilocks Rap’.

Do you enjoy listening to or telling stories? Then join our next session on June 21st for an evening of story sharing, drinks, and merriment.

The theme is ‘Right To Be Human’, ahead of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival in October. A fitting theme in our troubling times of political conflict, climate change, and culture wars!

Storytellers old and new are welcome at The Bridge Inn, Tillicoultry, from 7.30-9.30pm.

HILLFOOTS TALES STROYTELLING SESSION

On Wednesday, 24th May 2023, we heard a range of tales based on the subject of “Dilemmas”.

We heard two stories involving personal dilemmas and a short poem composed by one of our members entitled “Mid Life Crisis”.

In an interesting, thought-provoking session we also listened to “The Dilemma”, “The King’s Dilemma”, “The Rabbit’s Dilemma” and “Bridget and the Wolf”.

And finally, we heard “Ricky Ticky Tick”, about an old woman who outwits some fearsome Clackmannanshire beasts!

HILLFOOTS TALES STORYTELLING SESSION

On Wednesday, 10th May 2023, we heard a range of tales based on the subject of “May”.

We heard the story of the generosity of  The Giving Tree, learned about the magical Milk White Cow and were captivated by The Piper of Glendevon.

Other tales shared were The Mayday Pairty, True Thomas (who could not tell a lie) and Maybe, about a taciturn farmer who could see that every misfortune could bring some good luck.

We also heard tell of some Mayday customs from Dorset, which were hilariously recounted to the group!

Our storytellers Joanne Dowd and Rosie Brown shared a Story and Supper with the children of Fishcross Primary.
