Our first event on Thursday, 14th August 2025 was at Breathe Easy in Alloa, a support group for those with lung conditions. We entertained our audience with local and traditional tales. Some of the audience also shared their own stories.

We then had two events in October 2025, “Wild Hillfoots – Her Story with Crafts” and “Mini Cats,
Spiders and Funny Hats”. These events were part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival 2025 Go Local programme.
The first of these was for women, allowing time to relax, unwind, build resilience and improve well-being whilst crafting.
I loved the crafting activity, time to be quiet and think. Then listening to others telling about their own lives and love. Excellent!
The second event was for children and families and gave local families the same opportunities to listen to stories and make Halloween themed crafts.
We had great fun making pumpkins and hearing stories.
In the spring of 2026, Hillfoots Tales delivered six weekly workshops of applied storytelling which allowed women across Clackmannanshire to come together, escape from the everyday pressures of life and have time for themselves, eat together and hear how ordinary women can make an extraordinary difference. We learned about Maya Angelou, Rosa Parks, Frida Kahlo, Elsie Inglis and Jackie Kay.
Really enjoyed the first session, welcoming group and the poetry was fun.

I’m not a very sociable person and find interactions with others difficult, however the facilitators at this group made me feel welcome and comfortable enough to try new things…
We delivered a tailored Applied Storytelling ‘Women of the World,’ workshop in May, 2026. This involved crafting, hearing stories of ordinary women and light refreshments, free of charge.
What a wonderful and creative day to tell stories through art.
We delivered two Handbags and Gladrags sessions, one exclusively for Women’s Aid.
Again, at a minimal cost or free and similar to the Her Story workshops except these included light refreshments, arts and crafts and a little problem solving.
I felt more relaxed as I have met likeminded ladies who have been through similar experiences as myself…

Our Starting With Stories storytelling workshop was an introduction to oral storytelling traditions including local folklore, Scottish tales, travellers’ tales, international stories and myths and legends. Participants were asked to come along with their own five minute story to share and receive feedback on – an opportunity to develop storytelling skills.
A wonderful group coming together to connect with sincerity and diversity. Loved the small group work for developing confidence and connection.
