STORYTELLING SESSION: REVIEW

November 8, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

On Wednesday, 8th November, 2023, our regular fortnightly session was held in Peppe’s Bar, Alloa.

The theme was “Water”.

Some prospective new members joined us to listen to, as usual,  a wide variety of tales from near and far.

We heard the tale of Jock, a young man of little common sense, and his Mother first.

The tragic story of two young lovers’ watery deaths in the Dead Sea was next retold.

We then heard “Hidden in Plain Sight”, a local yarn set in Alloa Tower.

Then the haunting myth of “The Maiden’s Well”, which is up in the Ochil Hills near Castle Campbell, had us all on the edges of our seats.

We were joined by a guest storyteller from Stirling, who shared the story of “The Fairy Midwife”.

Our penultimate offering was “The Farmer’s Husband”, which involved a female farmer and her dealings with the kelpie who lived in the watercourse running through her land.

And finally, we listened to “The Sealhunter’s Adventure”, which was an exciting and enthralling journey into the deep, where the selkies live.
