SUMMARY:STORYTELLING SESSION
DESCRIPTION:Our most recent session had the subject of “Games”. \nWe began by playing a storytelling game\, where we each chose three word cards from the table and used them to concoct part of a story\, with everyone present taking part.  Lots of fun was had and a very interesting story was put together\, containing witches\, kings\, queens\, princes\, swans\, frogs and all kinds of weather and locations.  Not sure it would win any prizes but it was hilarious nonetheless. \nWe didn’t have as much time to hear as many stories as usual\, due to our own game\, but we did hear a narrative poem about playing Monopoly\, ” Old Kent Road”\, another poignant poem about coercive control\, “The Game”\, and the Irish legend\, “How Cu-Chulainn Got His Name”.

SUMMARY:STORYTELLING SESSION: LESSONS
DESCRIPTION:We had a fantastic turn out for our most recent session on Wednesday\, 2nd August\, with a guest from Sweden joining us to listen in! \nWe heard about Dr John Feehan who was a witch in North Berwick in the late 1500s.  He was unusual as he was the local school master!  We discovered what happened when he cast a love spell on an unsuspecting young woman. \nA true story from even further in the past\, from the mid 1400s\,  “Life Lessons” and one set in the local area\, “Every Day’s a Learning Day” were also told. \nTwo poems were recited by long standing members.  One was by Liz Lochead called “Bairnsangs” and the other was an original composition named “School’s Out”. \nAnd last but not least\, a story about a jealous husband who consults the local wise woman of Affrick Castle about his son’s true paternity\, learns the awful price of dealing with….. THE DEVIL! \n

SUMMARY:STORYTELLING SESSION
DESCRIPTION:The theme for our most recent session was “Local Tales”.  A thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all\, recanting and listening to stories set in and around Clackmannanshire. \nWe heard the legend of the Maiden’s Well\, which is located up in the Ochils near Castle Campbell (or Castle Gloum\, as it was sometimes known)\, The Black Laird\, in which a simple tailor tells of one of his adventures with the Wee Folk and “Is This It?” in which the comely wife of the Tillicoultry miller becomes disaffected with married life…. and disappears! \nWe also enjoyed a poem\, “Big Willie Kemp”\, a hilarious tale of kings\, knights\, fair maidens and David and Goliath type battles.  “The Magic Coos O’ Muckhart” taught us that believing in the Wee Folk can reap rewards in times of drought and hardship.  And last but not least\, we heard a true story of the dramatic rescue from the flooded Menstrie Burn.
